FCDS is proud to have supported the delivery of TL Robertson Library at Curtin University and providing sustainable design services. The redevelopment includes significant infrastructure works to address the end of life services and ensure reliable and sustainable operations moving forward. The works also include construction of a new services tower, demolition and replacement of existing façade, a new level 7 events and exhibition space and full refurbishment of all existing levels.

TL Robertson is targeting a 5-Star Green Star Design and As Built Sustainability rating and has been awarded the Winner of “Excellence in Waste Management”.

Yanchep SHS was briefed by the education department to be sustainably inclusive in its design. Full Circle undertook commissioning to internationally recognised standards. Building tuning was undertaken for performance monitoring for the first 12 months after project completion. Inclusions involve the use of low toxicity paints, adhesives, sealants, floor coverings and composite wood products. 100% of the teaching spaces have outside views with a 65% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Various other smart energy saving modules were incorporated in this design.

This iconic grammar school in Claremont has recently completed designing and commenced construction to its ambitious PERFORM centre. Careful consideration of the building orientation on the site promotes good solar passive design principles of sun control, access to natural light and ventilation. Deeply set glazing in northern-facing facades and integrated solar shading assist in controlling heat load and light levels – important considerations in learning environments. Mixed mode ventilation strategies are also employed to all teaching spaces.

The building will be provided with a photovoltaic cell array to the roof, further expanding the already extensive green energy generation on the Campus. Energy efficiency will be a key feature of the services design to the new facility, including lighting technology and control, and high efficiency mechanical systems, all monitored and managed via a designated Building Management System (BMS).

St. Mary’s Arts Centre has been designed by Christou and is being constructed by Crothers Constructions. The arts centre is central to the schools’ immersive arts program. The development boasts a three-storey development with various environmental initiatives including passive solar design principles are embedded within the design harnessing natural light and ventilation. Visual Arts, Design Room, Construction 3D, Design Technology and General Workshops are strategically placed and fully glazed to take advantage of maximum southern light. Function Rooms, Staff & Media utilize Northern light, controlled with deep recessed windows and overhanging floor plates to avoid excessive heat gain. A series of terraces extend studios and classrooms to the outdoors, capturing views to the South and East and providing articulation to the façade.

FCDS have been assisting Bateman Architects with the development of the first stage of redevelopment for the Rossmoyne Senior High School in Rossmoyne, WA. Full Circle has delivered a sustainable mechanical design which perfectly aligns with the Primary School Brief laid out by the Department of education and the department of finance. The redevelopment involves the construction of a two-storey classroom and library space, science labs, STEM classrooms and new changeroom facilities for the students.
